Melody was walking around the Northern Water Tribe, had only gotten there the day before. She had been here many times, learning new water bending technics, though when she went to see if they had any new ones, she knew them already, so now she was the one doing the teaching here instead of vice versa, which didn't make the water bending teacher here happy, who was a man, and who she had beaten in a fair fight, meaning without using blood bending. So now she was relaxing, though not for long. She traveled to get her mind off of what her life was missing.

Lynette shyly walked into the bending class late, more uncomfortable then usual with the new master. Although she felt more at ease with another woman, her all over poor confidence made her feel as though she was being stared down.

Melody smiled as the class all gathered, then frowned a little when a girl walked in late. She wasn't quite familiar with the students, but she was sure the student's name was Lynette. She was only going to be here for a week so, she was also known as the Traveling Water Bending Teacher. She taught others how to water bend, as long as the found her, or she came there, usually only staying in one place for a week, if that, and she had never had a student travel with her, yet.

"Good morning class. A little early, don't you think, for a class. I guess the reason we do them so early is because the moon is still in the sky, though I would much rather have them in the evening, but oh well. As most of you may know, I'm the Traveling Water Bending Teacher, Melody. So, are we ready to begin?" She didn't wait for a reply. She knew that they all probably had down the basics, and some probably were higher up than that. She also noticed that the room seemed to be split up, organized by capability from stances and such. She nodded, this would make it easier. "Now, if you would all go outside, I'll show you a good defensive/offensive water bending move." She waited till the class filed outside of the igloo like structure, not too different then her home in the Southern Water Tribe from when she was a child.

She had them all make a circle around her, then created an ice wall between her and the circle. "Okay, this move takes quite a bit of focus, and is actually derived from a pure defensive move that I learned as a young girl." She crouched low, turning, lifting her arms up at the same time. Ice rose, then surrounded her like a small, see through dome. "This is the first, defensive, part of it. Here's the offensive, this I got from the Earth Benders as a younger woman, about elevenish." She made kicking and punching movements at the see through ice, spider web crack appearing in the ice, then she a quick, outward pushing movement with her arms, arms straight out from her sides, and the ice flew outwards, hitting the ice, creating a few cracks in it also, but she brought down the ice wall once the shards stopped flying. "Advanced students, start with that, all of it, moderate, shields and cracks., beginners, shields."

Lynette watch the master in awe. Her moves were of such fluidity and grace, yet powerful. Her skill was so impressive, and to be so much better than a male, Lynette had never been so sparked to learn more than ever. Being mostly defensive, because she was a woman, and only taught mild offensive attacks, Lynette had quickly got a hang of making the dome, the offensive being more difficult, her moves not quiet of the right harshness.
Seeing she was not quiet strong enough, she thought she may attempt to do it slightly different. Punching as the Traveling Master, Lynette instead of using one large pushing movement attempted using several small precise pushes.
Her dome held, though she accidently had the area around her dome explode with shards shooting everywhere. Luckily everyone else had been in their own protective shells, or had quickly pulled one up before getting hit. Lynette blushed deeply with the now miniature crater surrounding her, and looked up ashamed a the master.

Melody looked around, each of the students seemed to be doing fairly well. She then noticed one person was having problems making their shield explode. The girl also forgot to put that ice wall up around her. Then she noticed something, her precise punches, they weren't as precise as she guessed the girl wanted them. They were breaking the ice around her. Melody quickly pulled up shields around the students that weren't currently protected when the area around the girl, Lynette, exploded, creating a crater around her. The girl looked at her with a sheepish, ashamed look. Melody smiled lightly, walking over to the girl, fixing the crater, taking down the shield.

"Good, good. You seem to have the same problem that I had, and actually several student I've taught had, even my own daughter, making the shield explode. My first student had problems with getting the dome complete, couldn't quite get the top part, leaving a hole, but there was a way we used that, we sort of did an Octopus through the top, which turned out quite interesting, but worked very well. Your technic would actually work pretty well. Though for doing what I was showing you, maybe you should try aiming a little bit higher, and maybe with a little more....ferocity I guess."

"Yes ma'am" Lynette answered with as much pride as her previous mistake would allow her to use. Her face still slightly rosy from embarrassment, she lowered her head and avoided all eye-contact, focusing on her task.

This time Lynette did her form slower, without actually bending to memorize the movements the Master had shown her. She waited until her arms moved to the same fluidity as the master's (well almost the same fluidity as the master's) before attempting the real thing. Then, lifting the dome around her and ignoring the other around her, she did the octopus thing, watched her dome, and pushed with every muscles at her expense.

Then, freezing in amazement, that she, the screw up who almost blew everyone's faces off, had done it right. She watched within her dome as the ice shards flew, almost appearing in slow motion to her racing mind, and heard them crash on the ice that covered the training ground.

((The octopus thing, it's when you keep a hole in the top, then you do the octopus move that Katara uses in the Earth Kingdom Crystal Caverns out of the top. Her first student had problems with the shield, always leaving a hole in the top, so Melody now calls it Koi's Fortress, because the made this move for him specifically.))

Melody smiled as she watched the girl do what she needed, slowly doing it, memorizing that pattern, trying to mimic the Traveling Master's move. Her eyes twinkled a little, remembering when she was teaching Koi how to water bend, ice bend, and plant bend when she was between twelve and fourteen. Then her own daughter, Mel, when they were in the Fire Nation Prison Village, something most people didn't know about her.

Then she watched when the girl repeated it, but actually bending this time, feeling the ice churn under her feet. Then in an explosion of breaking ice, the shield blew apart in dangerous ice shards, hitting everyone's ice shields or her own, then smiled a bit, gently.

Lynette panted, it had taken a lot out of her just to do that one move. This weakness made her look down at her self pathetically.

"How can I be tired from just that?" she thought to herself quiet puzzled, she trained nearly everyday. Perhaps she never trained for power then? She decided to do the move again until her limbs were to stiff and numb too move on(or the Master gave them a new move).

Melody turned towards the girl, Lynette, who looked exhausted. She was panting, her breath coming out it misty clouds of warmth. She looked as if she thought that she herself was pathetic. Melody frowned a bit.

Melody was going over more basics now. She started to focus more on breathing technics, something that they seemed to having problems with.

inhaling deeply, wow, they really don't hit this stuff when instructing us when we start out.... Lynette watched the Master not a single drop of perspiration gleamed off her face, nor was her face even the slightest pink. I want to be that good lynette thought. She decided she would inquire more knowledge from the Master later after they had finished their training, but for now she would empty her head of busy thoughts and breathe...

Melody had them do their breathing excercises for about an hour or two, yes, hours, but she had to do these for longer when she was training, though not at first. She stood up silently. "Good job class, now, I'll be leaving fairly soon, as I usually do. Now, I leave with some advice, practice your breathing for at least half an hour, do some warm up, and stretch before you guess actually start your practices from now on. I've given your usual trainer a few tips on what to do." She smiled gently. "Class is dismissed." She turned and walked towards a little room that she had called her own for the past week. A little igloo, something that was pretty easy to set up in the Northern and Southern Water Tribes, and even easier to take down.

Lynette waited for the rest of the class to disperse before making way towards the Traveling Master. Hesitating at first, wondering if the Master would have patience for her, Lynette decided she was curious enough to not mind a slight chiding or a cold shoulder as she approached the Master.
"Excuse me, but i was wondering if you... could tell me about your travels? What are the other countries really like? getting caught up in her emotion she blurted [/b]It be amazing if I could travel with you![/b] she quickly covered her mouth with her hand and blushed deeply ashamed from her lack of self-control. Though it was her biggest dream to leave the Northern Water Tribe to see the rest of the world, to learn more than 'Northern Style', and most of all be appreciated as a female bender like the Traveler.

Melody quickly turned at the sound of a younger girl's voice, and turned to find Lynette. Melody wasn't completely surprised that the young girl came up to her to talk to her, the girl actually seemed interested in what Melody was teaching. When the girl asked if she could talk to her about her travels, what the other countries were like, Melody openned her mouth, about to speak, when the girl said it would be amazing to travel with her. The girl quickly covered her mouth with her hands, blushing deeply. Melody smiled a bit. Oddly enough, this had been the first time someone had even hinted that they wanted to travel with her, most didn't, sadly, even the students that caught her eye didn't. The girl looked embarrassed, ashamed. "You know, you're the only person that has even hinted that they wanted to travel with me."

Biting her tongue before asking if that was true, she apologized,"I didn't mean to be so forward!" then she bowed and looked up at the Master scrunching her face, quickly wanting to avoid her rude outbreak by changing the topic, " So What is it like out there?" she looked down again "I've heard there are so many more forms of water bending than just changing waters shape....Are the rumors true that you know these techniques?" Lynette felt her heart squeeze with excitement, wondering if there really was a whole new world to bending she was told were silly myths. Avoiding eye-contact, she attempted to keep her child-like curiosity out of her expression and hold a more mature posture and patient face, at the same time watching every move of the Master's, analyzing it and pondering what each gesture's hidden meaning was.
