They have a population of dragons which they bind together with in order to keep peace between the wizards of the world. Fa Kudo introduced himself to the Magicians, and then returned to the Elemental Kingdom in order to tell the Elemental King.
The Magicians were furious by Fa Kudo's appearance, and thinking Owlan has betrayed their pact, they plan a force to interrupt the 7 Nation Summit--which they saw through a vision--and remind Owlan of their pact. Meanwhile, the Elemental King was pleased with Fa Kudo's news, and decides to call a 7 Nation Summit in order to reveal Fa's discoveries to the other Nations. As the 7 Nation Summit draws nearer, so do the Wizards and their Dragons. War is lurking in the shadows, and slowly becomes imminent.
Status and History of the Seven Nations
Elemental Kingdom - A Kingdom built of refugees who were scattered around Ba Sing Se after the fall of Fire Lord Ozai. In search of new beginnings, many people sent out envoys of these refugees to explore this new land, and in the process began to populate it. Eventually, the place grew into it's own kingdom, and after several unsuccessful revolutions and unification wars, the country became the largest, most powerful, and neutral: Elemental Kingdom. After many years of ups and downs, the Elemental Kingdom is still strong, economically, spiritually, finically and militarily. It is also the meeting place of many of the Seven Nation Summit, with the Elemental King being the neutral mediator of each meeting. Nowadays, the kingdom is quiet and peaceful, once and a while sending out envoys to search for the new Avatar and the new Warriors of the Elements. The place is peaceful, and is always trying to keep the peace.
Earth Kingdom - The Earth Kingdom was strong and peaceful after the fall of Ozai, and even after the war against Lord Ibu. They were the largest army--after the Fire Nation fell--to combat Ibu and his armies. The Earth Kingdom aided Kouzai in his destruction of the Dark Nation, and since then have been aligned with good and have always supported the Fire Nation. However, they were not without problems. For many generations after the fall of Ibu, the Khoonda and Exchange Mercenary and Bounty Hunter Corps. battled each other in the streets of the Lower Ring of Ba Sing Se for supremacy. They were eventually wiped out by Earth King Lu Peng, however the Lethal Corps. formed from the remnants. Lethal attempted to steal and sell the Fire Nations preliminary guns and weapons to fuel wars and make a profit, however, they were stopped by the Earth King and by the Fire Lord and his family. After many losses and battles, Crown Prince Katsuro of the Fire Nation and Crown Prince Raiden of the Shadow Lands, managed to crush Lethal at it's heart and destroy the organization for good. Since then, mercenaries have been nothing but a whisper of the past, concerns relegated to an older monarchy and an older time, nothing but a myth or a legend that no longer exist. The Earth Kingdom still has strong ties with all other nations, especially the Fire Nation, and is financially strong as well as peaceful.
Fire Nation - The Fire Nation after Fire Lord Ozai was peaceful and prosperous, and remained so for several hundred years. 400 years of peace was spent rebuilding and picking up the pieces, and the Fire Nation redeemed themselves with a long line of good, and generous kings from the line of Zuko. New lands were discovered and populated, and those new lands grew into new nations and kingdoms (Elemental Kingdom, Sun Nation, Tengu Island). New kingdoms inhabited by benders who bended the elements of Light and Dark were discovered (The Light Kingdom and Dark Nation) and the all the world became one of peace and prosperity. Unfortunately, the peace was not to last, and the Dark Nation--a nation entirely made of Dark Benders--began to release massive armies and war machines, ones that could destroy the world and bind each nation to it's will. The Dark Nation began to invade neighbouring nations and Kingdoms and began their dark campaign to take over the world. The Dark Nation easily conquered the Light Kingdom, nearly wiping all of the Light Benders off the face of the earth for good--though a few managed to escape to the safety of Ba Sing Se. All of the Nations stood agains the Dark Nation, all of them united under the leadership of Fire Lord Honno-ji--grand father of future Fire Lord, Fire Lord Kouzai I.
Honno-ji united the other nations armies against the Dark Nation, but unfortunately, his strong leadership was not to last. After his son, Crown Prince of the Fire Nation, Nobura, and his daughter-in-law, Princess Iwa-jima, were killed when their boat was destroyed and smashed to pieces by the Dark Nation Navy, Honno-ji sank into a small depression. Though he was still very--if not more--determined to destroy the Dark Nation armies, though his plans became more reckless and wild and his winning streak began to decline. Things took a turn for the worst when an entire Dark Nation Assissination Force, led by Lord Ibu of the Dark Nation, stormed the Fire Nation Capitol, broke into the palace, and assassinated the Fire Lord in his sleep. The rest of the royal family fled by morning--after quickly burying the Fire Lord--and the recently Crown Prince Kouzai--son of Nobura and grandson of Honno-ji--became acting Fire Lord in his family's stead. The group escaped to the safety of Sozin's Island, where they hid in the confines of the Hall of Fire Lords, hoping to hide and command their armies and country in secrecy until Ibu and his Dark Bender armies fell. Unfortunately this was not to be, the enchantments that were placed around Sozin's Island to protect it from intruders were broken, and Ibu and his armies stormed the beach and the Hall of Fire Lords and slaughtered the entire Royal Family.
This marked the end of Fire Nation participation in the war, as Ibu claimed the Fire Nation throne for himself and ruled De Facto for many years to follow, and converted all of the Fire Nation army into Dark Nation soldiers and began his campaign on the Earth Kingdom next. Kouzai however, survived the massacre, and gathered up a following. He fought back against the soldiers of the Dark Nation and attempted to assassinate Ibu. However, his first attempt failed and his only surviving cousin, Lee, died in the attempt. After burying Lee--who returned to life after a deal with the Spirit King several months later--Kouzai and his group travelled around and started to strengthen themselves, and after an audience with the Earth King, the Earth Kingdom Army and Kouzai and his group attacked Ibu on the shores of the Dark Nation. The result was victory against Ibu and his army and the Dark Nation was seemingly wiped out for good. Kouzai was soon crowned Fire Lord and the Fire Nation began to rebuild. Throughout the years, the Fire Nation remained strong, and even after the Dark Nation revealed itself again, they forced them to sign a treaty that would prevent history from repeating itself. The Fire Nation even turned out an Avatar from it's Royal Family and a hero of the world on top of that. However, things took a turn for the worst when Fire Lord Rekka, son of Fire Lord/Avatar Lee, and Grandson of Fire Lord Kouzai I began a war against the Water Tribes. Rekka destroyed the Water Tribes and nearly killed off all of the Water Benders.
However, he was soon defeated by his son, Kouzai, who would soon become Fire Lord Kouzai II, and under the rule of Kouzai II, the Fire Nation experienced another long lasting era of peace. And even though Prince Sasuno'o defected from the Fire Nation and went evil, and his son soon killed Fire Lord Tsukiyomi and plotted the war, the Fire Lords were always good and beneficial and fought against the evil. Eventually, the Fire Nation had successfully become the leading Nation in Weaponry, Soldiers, and Research and Development of new technology. They successfully developed early guns and urpgraded their explosive power. The Fire Nation had combined explosives with their cannons as well as making the first guns, this early guns only fired throwing knives and few are flintlock. They were and are still strong economically and since have had an army that can rival any nation. They have since developed guns that fire not just knives, but steel balls and arrows as well. The Fire Nation use their massive military force to keep close watch on the Dark Nation and help support both the Dark Nation since it has no army of it's own. They also use their armies to defend the Light Nation from other attackers and keep the royal families safe and crush revolts early on. Since they finically and militarily support both the Light Kingdom and Dark Nation, there have been talks with the leaders of both countries and the Fire Lord to take control of both nations as states of the Fire Nation. So far, the Fire Nation sees no reasons why not to.
Northern Water Tribe - The Northern Water tribe has always been strong since the fall of Ozai. They always were willing to lend their armies to the other nations when they were in need, and were always fighting on the front lines of many of the wars. However, during the Reign of Fire Lord Rekka, the Northern Water Tribe, as well as the Southern Water Tribe, were nearly destroyed and almost all of the Waters Bender were wiped out and those who remained were either hunted or died escaping. Very few survived the Fire Nation's wrath, but those who did hid out in the Elemental Kingdom until the War was over. After Rekka was killed and Fire Lord Kouzai II took over, he helped the South and Northern Water Tribes rebuild which eventually allowed the Water Benders to repopulate and restock their numbers. After almost 200 years later, the Water Tribe is back and bigger than before, still sending out their forces to the aid of others when needed, and willing to help any nation in need of it.
Southern Water Tribe - The Northern Water tribe has always been strong since the fall of Ozai. The city was again attacked several years later when Ex-Prince of the Fire Nation, Sasuno'o, son of Kouzai II, attacked and nearly destroyed the city with the help of a chained Fire Spirit named Pyro. Sasuno'o bound the demon to his will and used it to attack the Water Tribe and kill their Queen, Queen Skye. Northern Air Temple - The Northern Air Temple, as well as the rest of the Air Temples and the Air Benders have thrived ever since the fall of Ozai, and the Air Benders have fully recovered their numbers. However, they have also become more secluded from the world, and have refused to participate in any of the conflicts or wars that the world has been enveloped in. However, they do often join in on peace talks with the other nations--and have built up an army for defensive purposes only--the Air Nation remains neutral. They have also become a monarchy, keeping the elder Air Monks as an advisory council similar to a senate. The nation to this day is still independent, secluded and peaceful, keeping to the ways of peace and non-retaliation that they have always known. Shadow Lands - This land is the remains of the old Dark Nation. After the Dark Nation was destroyed because of Ibu's war machine, the explosion of darkness caused the human world to bind itself to the Spirit World, bringing the Spirit World to the human world and creating the shadow lands. This land is completely inhabited by spirits, ghosts and in certain areas, the living undead. This nation is neutral, and helps keep balance between the nations, though they do not participate in any conflicts most of the time. It is ruled by the Spirit King--who was once a large, black lion with wings, and is now a human who claimed the throne after the Spirit King was killed and his lineage. The Spirit King's Palace is also home of the Warriors of the Elements, as their home--the Rotunda--was attached to the palace by magical means after the last time the darkness was sealed from the world.
Dragon Island - An island that is home to an entire colony of wild dragons. Their colours range from gold, silver, red, blue, white, green, brown, purple, and black. Their species types are in numerous and vast. Any may travel here as long as they tread carefully, but only a select few may take home a dragon egg of their own. Those who already have an egg may take it here and bathe it in the River of Fire so that it may hatch. Those who wish to release their dragons may take them here as well, and those who wish knowledge may come and speak with the oldest and wisest of dragons. It is an island of magic and mystery, and no doubt of great power. It is mountainous, snowy, desert-like, forested and any kind of biome you can think of, and it is located just off the coast of the Fire Nation.
Tengu Island - This island is under control of the Fire Nation, and is used as a military base and factory for mass producing weaponry and arms for the Fire Nation's massive armies. The island's volcano is mostly dormant, and the lava that remains is used for forging to create steel for the airships, sea ships and tanks used by the Fire Nation military. The volcano has been hollowed out and converted into military barracks and base. The hollowed out bowl that was once the volcano's eruption shaft has been turned into a training ground for new recruits, and the multitude of magma chambers below the volcano are now used as weapon caches and safety bunkers in case of an emergency.
Light Kingdom - The Light Nation was discovered along with the Dark Nation 700 years ago. The Light Nation was always peaceful and quiet. They suffered persecution after the Dark Nation conquered their land and slaughtered most of their people. Those who survived were used as labor workers for the Dark Nation. After the Dark Nation and Ibu were defeated, the nation picked up the peaces and rebuilt itself. They remained mostly quiet, and kept to themselves, though they remained strong bonds with the Fire Nation, but most of the time they were content to stay among their own kind and live out their lives and tribulations on their own. After a few civil wars, uprisings and revolutions, the nation is now fully peaceful and being monitored for any kind of insubordination or revolt by the Fire Nation who wants nothing more than for the land to be at peace. This nation is being financially supported by not only the Dark Nation, but by itself and partially by the Fire Nation who funds its armies and security. The Light Kingdom, as well as the Dark Nations, are known as the Second States. Because they are so closely monitored by the Fire Nation as well as supported by it, they have been seen as Second States of the Fire Nation. Currently, talks between the Fire Lord and Light King as well as of the Fire Lord and Dark Lord for both the Light and Dark Nations to become part of the Fire Nation.
Dark Nation - The Dark Nation was discovered shortly after the end of the 100 Year Campaign led by Fire Lord Ozai and the Fire Nation. After Fire Lord Ozai fell, the world began to expand, and by doing so, they discovered the Light and Dark Nations, which had existed for hundreds of years and was inhabited completely by Light and Dark Benders respectively. These two nations were soon flocked to by tourists and were added to the growing map of the world. They remained a peaceful nation until 400 years after the Fall of Fire Lord Ozai, in which the massive, secret armies of the Dark Nation began to attack the world relentlessly. They conquered and eradicated the Light Kingdom and their people, and then moved on to the rest of the world. Fire Lord Honno-ji fought against them and united the rest of the world against them, and managed to hold their armies off for 20 years. However, Lord Ibu, king of the Dark Nation, assassinated and slaughtered the Fire Lord and the entire Royal Family, and conquered the Fire Nation. Ibu then became Emperor Ibu, Supreme Ruler of the Fire and Dark Nations. Ibu then moved his forces to the Earth Kingdom and began to burn and pillage the nation, conquering all the territory he could.
However, one of the royal family of the Fire Nation, Crown Prince Kouzai, who had survived the slaughter, along with his dragon and a large group of friends from different nations he assembled began their fight against the Usurper Lord Ibu. The group traveled around the world and began to rebel and fight against Dark Nation and their soldiers, and after a year of travelling and preparing and after a failed a attempt on the Emperor's Life, they finally launched their final attack--along with the Earth Kingdom Armies--on Ibu and his nation. During the final battle on the beaches of the Dark Nation, Ibu unveiled a new weapon which harnessed the powers of darkness in the air and universe to create a powerful explosion and destructive beam which could be used to wipe nations from the surface of the Earth. Ibu planned to unleash it on the Earth Kingdom Armies and on Kouzai and his group but the machine back fired-sabotaged by Kouzai prior to the battle--and imploded on itself, releasing a massive powerful explosion and destroying the original Dark Nation. The explosion caused the Spirit World to be fused to this world, and the Dark Nation turned into the Spirit World known as the Shadow Lands. A land of constant twilight ruled by the King of All Spirits and Humans, the Spirit King. A large, black, winged lion. After the battle, Lord Ibu and seemingly all of the Dark Benders were destroyed.
The Light Kingdom began to rebuild and thrive again, the Earth Kingdom regained it's lost territories and the Kouzai became Fire Lord Kouzai I and began to rebuild. With the threat of the Dark Nation and Dark Benders gone, the world was at peace. However, 25 years after the war ended, the Dark Benders revealed their new nation on these island. Their Nation was a group of islands which were closely located to each other and attached by bridges which the Dark Benders had inhabited. The Dark Nation claimed peace and Fire Lady Kalilili--who had taken over since her husband, Fire Lord Kouzai I, had died and his son Crown Prince Lee was too young to rule--took no chances. She forced the Dark Benders to sign a treaty that told them they had to pay all the nations back for the cost of the repairs and were not allowed to have any military except for a small number of militia which were regulated by the other nations and made of volunteers from the Dark Nation and chosen by the Fire Lady/Lord of the time. The Dark Nation agreed, and so the world remained at peace. Then, 55 years after they signed the treaty, the Dark Nation attacked the world with a secret army and were backed by the murderous Earth King, Earth King Li.
Together, Lady Erin of the Dark Nation and King Li attacked the world and began their reign of terror. However, Fire Lord Kouzai II managed to stop both of their efforts along with his son Crown Prince Tsukiyomi and Princess Amaterasu. Since then, the Dark Nation has remained peaceful, and has been forced to repay all the damage they've done to the world by paying for the repairs. They've also been reduced to no army, and no defending militia and are guarded by soldiers from the Fire Nation instead. The island is also financially supported by the Fire Nation as most of it's money goes into the Light Kingdom and rebuilding it. Today it is a quiet, peaceful and hard working nation.
